I Write Jokes on Post-Its While I'm Driving Netflix

As a new comedian, I'm usually on the lookout for new stuff. I jot along ideas on napkins, receipts, and also my hand when I don't need anything else useful. But recently, I've discovered a fresh and unconventional source of inspiration: Netflix.

Indeed, you read that will right. I've started off writing jokes on Post-Its while I'm watching Netflix. It's an odd blend, I know. Yet hear me out and about.

One night, I was basically feeling particularly uninspired. I had been recently staring at a blank page for hours, and nothing was coming for you to mind. Out involving desperation, I converted on Netflix and even started watching a documentary about the particular history of humourous.

Since I watched, I started noticing little things that manufactured me laugh. The way the narrator pronounced certain words, the editing options, even the music. It was like a comedy goldmine.

So, I grabbed some sort of pen and several Post-Its and started jotting down almost everything that tickled the funny bone. In first, it had been just isolated outlines, like " The guy who developed the yo-yo in no way grew up. " But as I kept writing, I started to discover patterns and links.

I realized that numerous of the jokes I was getting up with were based on misinterpretations, exaggerations, and unpredicted twists. These will be all classic comedy techniques. And suddenly, I had some sort of whole new strategy of material to be able to work with.

Since next, I've made seeing Netflix a normal part of my personal creative process. I don't just enjoy anything, though. I choose shows and movies that I think will spark my imagination plus give me a new fresh perspective.

For example of this, I recently observed the movie " The King's Conversation. " It's the historical drama with regards to King George MAN of England, which struggled with the severe stammer. While the film is definitely not inherently silly, I found myself personally laughing out loud at the method the king's talk therapist used wit to help him overcome his incapacity.

I also enjoyed viewing the stand-up funny special " Tig Notaro: Happy for you to Be Here. " Notaro is the comedian who was diagnosed with breast cancer and experienced a double mastectomy. Her special is both hilarious in addition to heartbreaking, and it inspired me in order to write jokes with regards to my own well being issues.

Of course, not really everything I observe on Netflix gives me material for jokes. But even when I don't come up with anything specific, it still helps us to think artistically and stay inside a comedic attitude.

I know that writing jokes on Post-Its while watching Netflix may sound including a strange means to find inspiration. But it runs for me. That helps me to be able to tap into a different part associated with my brain and to see typically the world in the more humorous way.

In addition to who knows, could be the next moment you're watching Netflix, you'll find yourself inspired to write a joke or two of your own own.
